In his talk, Professor Ferrari will examine how the law applicable to the merits is to be identified in an international commercial arbitration context. He will distinguish between the law applicable pursuant to a choice by the parties and the law applicable absent a choice.    He will also address the consequences of the application of the wrong law by the arbitrators, an issue to be distinguished from that of the wrong application of a given law.
